Frequently Asked Questions

Where Can I Find More Information On Breast Cancer And Treatment Options?
Contact your local branch of the American or Canadian Cancer Society. Website: oncolink.upenn.edu

How Soon After Surgery Can I Wear A Silicone Breast Form?
We recommend waiting for your surgical site to heal before being fitted. Normally this will take 4-6 weeks. In the meantime, you may wish to wear a lightweight fibber-filled form like our Model 615 featherweight to restore your appearance.

Why Should I Wear A Weighted Breast Form?
A weighed breast form will restore a woman's natural balance and symmetry. Wearing an unweighted breast form for a prolonged period will eventually result in back problems and poor posture.

What Is Lymphedema? Am I At Risk?
Women who have experienced breast cancer treatment can also be at risk from lymphedema, a condition in which the arm(s) become swollen with excess lymph fluid. Treatments may include the use of elastic arm sleeves or compression pumps, which can reduce swelling. Your Naturalwear dealer can give you guidelines on how to prevent or minimize symptoms of lymphedema.

WalkAide: A major step forward in the treatment of foot drop. WalkAide was developed by researchers at the University of Alberta. WalkAide simulates the typical nerve-to-muscle signals in the leg and foot, causing the foot to lift at the appropriate time in the walking cycle. The resulting movement is a smother, more natural, and safer gait.
